Progressive restoration
Our intervention
is linked to the future of the object. Thus our clients
be they curators or collectors may well ask for varied
services from preserving to restoring the objects.
Phase
1 : Preserving the object
The
object has first
to be cleaned (dirty, broken, unrepaired or already
restored object) with solvent or stream (even maybe
by scrubbing) then the pieces have to be stuck together
again, it is what is called "collage" (cf.
Photo 1.). This is minimal and unescapable.
Phase
2 : Restoring the object
Seeking harmony and aestheticism, wa
are then brought to answer to more suggestive or emotional
expectations.
Filling
and sanding down (cf. photo 2.), enable
then to erase the surface differences and to take off
any bump due to the accident.
To
this we can add the modelling
of missing elements
, (finger
fragments, anse...).
The touching up,
first of the background colour either by an illusionist
touching up with airbrush (blurred) either an outlined
restoration (by erasing the blurredness with solvent)
and lastly restore the setting
with a brush.
